Steven A. Russell Biography

Steven A. Russell served as global chief information officer of Christie's International from 1998 to 2005. Based at the firm's U.S. headquarters in New York , Russell had worldwide responsibility for all aspects of information technology across Christie's operations in 35 countries. Working closely with his peers in the business and as a member of the firm's group management committee, Russell was responsible for planning and executing an IT strategy in support of maintaining Christie's prominence as the world's largest and most prestigious auction house. With over 20 years of experience in information technology, Russell has progressed in his career from entry level programmer/analyst to CIO. He has a highly successful track record in the delivery of global technology solutions across a variety of industries. Prior to joining Christie's, Russell was the vice president of information services with the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP). At ASCAP, he was responsible for information technology with particular emphasis on executing a strategy in support of a corporate re-engineering effort. Russell also played a leadership role in establishing international standards for the communication of information regarding copyright ownership of musical works. Russell also spent eight years with Bankers Trust Company, managing the design, development, and maintenance of a variety of systems that provided domestic cash management services to the bank's corporate customers. Russell holds B.S. in computer science and an M.S. in information science from Lehigh University.
