Steven J. Bandrowczak Biography

Steven J. Bandrowczak is vice president and general manager, data solutions at Avaya. Avaya is a global provider of business communications applications, systems and services. In this role, Bandrowczak oversees the foundation for the data networking business with a focus on growing the networking business into a world class innovative market leader. Leveraging previous experiences, his approach to the business has set new benchmarks for revenue growth, market share, and a true accountability within the business.

Previously, Bandrowczak was the president, enterprise sales americas for Nortel. The Americas sales region encompassed the United States, Canada and Caribbean and Latin America. As president, his focus was on transforming the enterprise solutions business into a true solutions selling capability, using his expertise as a former chief information officer to successfully instill confidence into Nortel’s customer base ultimately carry the team to a position among the top tier in sales productivity in the industry. Prior to this position, Bandrowczak was global chief information officer for Nortel. In that role, he was responsible for leading Nortel's IT business transformation efforts. Bandrowczak formed strong partnerships with Nortel's business units and regions, to fully align and integrate IT priorities into the corporate strategy. Bandrowczak's focus was to leverage the expertise of Nortel's global IT organization to drive incremental revenue and expense ratio, create world class cycle times and drive return on investment. These efforts were documented in the Nortel CIO Report 2008.

As chief information officer, Bandrowczak was not only responsible for managing one of the largest enterprise networks in the world; he was also accountable for the business process solutions that are critical to the company's operations. With an emphasis on business simplification, He and his team implemented critical data center and application rationalization programs, evolving Nortel's ITIL service model, and achieving best practice in portfolio management. Extending beyond the traditional role of IT, Bandrowczak also led Nortel's business services, a global organization responsible for providing employees with a one-stop-shop for all of their corporate needs. The primary focus being the delivery of common services across Nortel's global employee base.

Bandrowczak has shared his expertise with corporate officers around the world, often as a keynote conference speaker. He has also shared case studies on how Nortel has used its own solutions to transform the business and evolve product and service quality.

Prior to joining Nortel, Bandrowczak served as chief information officer for Lenovo Group, a global producer of PC products and value-added professional services. At Lenovo, he helped lead the company through the initial stages of its $11 billon IBM spin-off in 2005, enacting a 24-month plan to build the company's IT infrastructure. Prior to Lenovo, Bandrowczak served as executive vice president and chief information officer for DHL Worldwide, a global market leader in the international express and logistics industry. He gained his valuable IT experience through his 14 years with Avnet, ultimately reaching the position of chief information officer for the electronics distributor.

In 2004, Bandrowczak was named one of the Top 100 CIOs by Computerworld. He holds a bachelor of science in computer science from Long Island University, New York.
