Rakesh Nigam Biography
Rakesh Nigam is a Managing Director at Barclays. He is currently the Group Head for US Engineering, covering the Investment Bank, Wealth Management, Corporate Bank and Card Services. He was previously Head of the Wealth Business in the Americas and also lead the overall integration of the US Wealth business into the Investment Bank after the Lehman Bankruptcy. Earlier roles have included running technology for the Global Credit Trading businesses at both Barclays Capital and at JP Morgan Chase. He spent three years at Salomon Brothers running the European Futures Technology business during the time when traders moved from open outcry to electronic trading. Prior to that, he was Head of Application Development and Head of Fixed Income Technology at Long Term Credit Bank and Nomura International, respectively. Nigam was born and educated in London, UK, graduating with an Engineering degree and as Valedictorian from The City University. He has lived in New York since 2003 and is very active with a number of non-profit organizations helping underprivileged young adults start their professional lives. He is also active in mentoring war veterans returning from active duty.
