Miles Braffett Biography

Miles Braffett is senior vice president and CIO for Sony BMG Music Entertainment. Sony BMG Music Entertainment is the recently formed $5 billion global recorded music joint venture owned by Bertelsmann A.G. and Sony Corporation of America. The Sony roster includes a broad array both of local artists and international superstars, as well as a vast catalog that comprises some of the most important recordings in history. Braffett is responsible for Sony BMG’s worldwide information systems and technology (IS&T) organization. His priority is the integration of the information technology applications and technology of the two companies and delivery of improved capabilities across the organization with reduced costs. In his previous five years as CIO for BMG, Braffett played a key role in guiding BMG into the world of digital distribution and digital asset management. Additionally, he was instrumental in the development of key systems supporting the label operations and royalty accounting functions. Braffett brings a broad range of experience and knowledge of both the music and the information technology industries. He joined BMG in 1995 as senior director of application development and was promoted to vice president of IS&T for BMG North America in January of 1998. Before joining BMG, Braffett at EMI Music was senior director, marketing systems.
