Mark E. Mooney Biography
Mark E. Mooney has been senior vice president and chief information officer for McGraw-Hill Education since 2003. Mooney gives direction to McGraw-Hill Education’s efforts in using technology to enhance learning and assessment and other initiatives to use technology to advance McGraw-Hill Education’s objectives. Prior to joining McGraw-Hill Education, Mooney was vice president and CIO for Harcourt Education, Reed Elsevier, where he helped transform the company’s technology function. Prior to his position at McGraw-Hill, he was senior vice president and chief technology officer for Vivendi Universal’s Houghton Mifflin Company, where he was responsible for the integration of technology between Vivendi and Houghton Mifflin. He has also held senior technology positions at the Bureau of National Affairs and Interactive Marketing Services. Mooney has been awarded several achievement awards for his efforts related to implementing technology in organizations. In addition to receiving the Babson College Center for Information Management Achievement Awards, he also was an adjunct professor at George Washington University. Mooney was also a Fellow, Change Management Program at John Hopkins University. Mooney has a B.S. in engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy, an M.S. in information technology from Johns Hopkins University, and a Ph.D. in organizational systems from the Fielding Institute.
