Karen Higgins-Carter

Karen Higgins-Carter is the Chief Information Officer for GE Capital Retail Card. In this capacity, she leads the IT function at RC, including the design, development and operations for all IT systems and delivering innovative ecommerce and mobile technology solutions for RC’s client-partners and customers. 

Karen’s career has focused on IT in financial services. Prior to RC, Karen was the Chief Information Officer for GE Asset Management, where she oversaw the operations and enhancement of research, portfolio analytics, trading, market data and business intelligence systems for over $100B in assets under management.  Karen began her career with GE in 1998 as IT Strategy Leader at General Electric Capital Services.  In 2000, she joined GE Consumer Finance responsible for all IT project delivery for GE’s U.S. private label credit card clients. Karen has also led IT Operations for GE Commercial Finance with a specific focus on IT security, disaster recovery and continuous improvement in system availability and performance. Earlier in her career, Karen was a Manager at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) in New York, and specialized in application development to support emerging broadband services in the telecommunications industry.

Karen earned both a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a B.A in Economics from Lafayette College. She serves as a member of Lafayette’s Leadership Council.
