Joe Firer Biography
Joe Firer is the executive director and CIO for Eppendorf Inc., a biotechnology company that manufactures instruments, systems, and research tools for the global life science industry worldwide. Eppendorf customers are academic and commercial research facilities as well as industrial companies that utilize biotechnology research methods. Firer directed a major North America implementation of SAP using Linux as the open source operating system. Prior to joining Eppendorf, Firer was a vice president of information technology for Toymax Inc., a company that produces many hit toys such as Creepy Crawler and Laser Challenge, where he was responsible for managing the IT organization. Firer was also the co-founder and CIO of Breakthrough Technologies, Inc., a company recognized for their proprietary software within the photographic industry. Joe holds an M.S degree in computer science and is a graduate of the Advanced Information Technology Management program from Columbia University.
