Frank Wander Biography

As chief information officer and senior vice president for Guardian Life Insurance Company of America, Frank Wander is responsible for the delivery of technology-based services and solutions for each of firm’s divisions. He is a business-focused systems executive who brings a broad array of leadership experience spanning information technology, client services, and operations and management consulting. Before assuming this role, Wander was the chief information officer of Guardian’s group insurance division, supporting all business systems for its dental, medical, life, and disability insurance products.

Prior to Guardian, Wander was the chief information officer for the Harry Fox Agency. Wander led the company’s IT team in the turnaround of a failed technology transformation initiative. He also spent three years at Prudential, and was the chief information officer of their institutional division, which provided insurance services to over 28,000 corporations.

During his career, Wander was the chief operating officer of an Internet start-up that was automating the technology industry supply chain in order to “buyer enable” the IT marketplace. He also spent many years in leadership roles at Merrill Lynch that spanned employee benefit services, retirement services, retail brokerage, asset management and banking. Here he led the national centralization of its retail retirement business, managed the firm’s call centers, and successfully led many large technology efforts. He began his career at the Equitable.
