Brian R. Lurie Biography

For the past 11 years, Brian R. Lurie has served as vice president of information technology at Stryker Orthopaedics, the largest operating division of the Stryker Corporation. Stryker Orthopaedics is a global leader in the design, development, manufacturing, marketing, and sales of reconstructive, trauma, and sports medicine orthopaedic products and services.

Lurie provides worldwide IT leadership for Stryker Orthopedics’ four international manufacturing facilities and over a hundred branch and agency distribution locations. Lurie’s teams are responsible for all computer and communications requirements including application development, infrastructure, information delivery, and IT quality and controls with a core focus on customer satisfaction and response.

In addition to his role at Stryker Orthopaedics, Lurie is a founding member of Stryker’s Business Technology Council, a cross-divisional Stryker entity. Prior to his current position, Lurie served as the chief information officer for Penn Engineering and Manufacturing where he managed an international IT staff in corporate, field and consultant positions.

From 1984 through 1994, Lurie worked for the Unisys Corporation, where he served as the bid integrity manager for the tri-state area. Lurie has received many awards including the CIO Leadership Networks 2008 Top 10 Leaders & Innovators Award and Premier 100 Computerworld Magazine 2009.

Lurie serves on the panel for the Global Technology Confidence Indicators (GTCI), an executive research and analysis unit at Stevens Institute of Technology and is a charter member on the Temple University computer and information sciences advisory board. Lurie is also a technology guest speaker at the University of Pennsylvania and Columbia University.

Lurie received a bachelor’s degree in computer and information sciences from Temple University and conducted post-graduate work at The University of Pennsylvania, Harvard University and Gallup’s Leadership Academy.
