David Spiro

David Spiro specializes in International Political Economy and is a Visiting Scholar for the International Studies Association. Currently, he is a management consultant and a principal at The Strategy Practice, an independent consulting practice that specializes in risk consulting and turn-around strategies for private equity firms. Prior to his role at The Strategy Practice, Spiro was the Director of Strategy Practice at the Mitchell Madison Group, a consulting firm focusing on performance improvement for financial, industrial, and services companies internationally. Spiro taught full-time at Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs from 1986-1994 as an Assistant Professor of International Political Economy. He has also held teaching posts at Harvard, the University of Pennsylvania, and the University of Arizona. Spiro earned his B.A. in Near Eastern Studies (1980), M.A. in Near Eastern Studies (1982), and PhD in International Political Economy (1989) from Princeton University.
