Brannen McElmurray
Adjunct Assistant Professor of International and Public Affairs
Brannen G. McElmurray is the director of environmental commodities at NRG Energy, a Fortune 500 company that owns and operates one of the country's largest and most diverse power generation portfolios. Prior to joining NRG Energy, McElmurray was a vice president in the merchant banking group of Evolution Markets, a leader in energy and environmental markets, where he worked with project developers and entrepreneurs in developing financing solutions for clean energy projects and clean tech companies. Before joining Evolution, McElmurray worked for Goldman Sachs Group in New York as an investment banker focused on technology companies. Prior to his position with Goldman Sachs, McElmurray was with Cravath, Swaine & Moore practicing in the areas of mergers and acquisitions and acquisition finance.
McElmurray holds a B.S. from the U.S. Naval Academy, an M.A. from George Washington University, and a J.D. from Stanford Law School. Following graduation from the U.S. Naval Academy, McElmurray served as an officer in the U.S. Navy. He currently serves on the board of New Heights Academy Charter School in Washington Heights, New York as a board member and treasurer.
