Italian
Language Courses
Runs from the week of May 28 to Jul 05
Equivalent to Italian V1101. Students will develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in Italian and an understanding of Italian culture. Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to provide basic information in Italian about themselves, their families, interests, likes and dislikes, and daily activities; participate in a simple conversation on everyday topics; to read edited texts on familiar topics; and produce Italian with basic grammatical accuracy and accurate pronunciation.

Prerequisites: ITAL S1101, or the equivalent.
Continues the work of Italian 1101 and completes the study of elementary Italian. Students continue to develop communicative skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills). Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to provide basic information in Italian about wants and needs, personal opinions and wishes, personal experiences, past activities, and daily routines; read simple texts on familiar matters of high frequency everyday or job-related language; draw on a repertoire of vocabulary and syntax sufficient for dealing with everyday situations.

Prerequisites: One year of college-level Italian, or the equivalent.
Equivalent to Italian V1201. Study of Italian at the intermediate level;
preparation for Italian 1202. Upon completion of this course
students should be able to use sufficient vocabulary to express themselves
on topics such as family, hobbies and interests, work, travel, and current
events; maintain conversations on topics of general or personal interest;
read straightforward factual texts on subject related to their field and
interest; be aware of the most significant differences between the customs,
usages attitudes, values and beliefs prevalent in Italian culture and those
of their own.Language Resource Center Fee: $15.00
Runs from the week of Jul 08 to Aug 16
Prerequisites: ITAL 1201, or the equivalent.
Equivalent to Italian V1202. Continues the work of Italian 1201.
On successful completion of this course, students should be able to use a
range of language sufficient for giving clear descriptions; express
viewpoints on most general topics; show a relatively high degree of
grammatical control; write clear and detailed texts on a variety of
subjects related to their field; interact with other Italian speakers with
some fluency and spontaneity; express themselves appropriately in various
cultural and communicative situations.Language Resource Center Fee:
