As a current student at Columbia University, Barnard College or Teachers College, you are eligible to register for summer classes, no reapplication required. Summer Sessions are a time for you to expand your knowledge in a specific topic area, try something new while you have time, or get ahead in your already decided upon academic plan. There are a multitude of courses and options for you to pursue, and the School of Continuing Education is here to help you make the right choice for your summer.
You should consult with your advisor before you register to ensure that you meet eligibility requirements for specific classes, fulfill graduation requirements for your own programs and avoid complicating your financial aid or degree requirement fulfillment. Your academic advisor in your home school will make the final decision of whether a particular summer course can be applied toward your major or if it fulfills a distribution requirement.
Students currently on leave who were not enrolled in the spring term immediately preceding summer must receive permission of their advisor or class dean before registering.
Students are reminded that they are held to the rules, regulations and standards as outlined in their school bulletin and in Essential Policies for the Columbia Community.
