Advanced Standing
Nondegree students do not receive transfer credit. For students in degree programs, credit toward the degree will not be given for courses taken outside Columbia University, nor will credit be conferred for work-related experience. No more than 6 points of advanced standing toward the MS degree will be granted either for appropriate graduate courses completed as a postgraduate nondegree student at Columbia with a grade of B or better, or for appropriate graduate courses completed as a degree candidate in another school of Columbia University with a grade of B or better, as long as those points were taken in excess of the requirements for the degree conferred by the other Columbia school. Advanced standing will only be given if the course(s) completed was/were taken within four years (12 terms) of the completion of all requirements for the degree.
