Stephen Sigmund

Stephen Sigmund is a strategic communications professional in political, corporate, and foundation crisis communications and media relations. In his current position as chief of public affairs and government affairs for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Sigmund is the agency's chief spokesman and liaison to outside government entities. He oversees a $22 million budget and a staff of 60 employees. Previously, Sigmund was director of communications and the senior policy advisor for City Council Speaker Gifford Miller, where he served as chief spokesman for the City's top elected Democrat and oversaw a staff of press officers, speechwriters, and policy analysts. Sigmund also is a former vice president with the Time Warner Foundation, where he positioned the Foundation's long-term goal of helping young people acquire the 21st century literacy skills they needed to succeed at school, work and in their communities. From 1998 to 2001, Sigmund was communications director for New York City Public Advocate and 2001 Democratic mayoral nominee Mark Green. From 1994 to 1998, Sigmund was a vice president for Robinson, Lerer & Montgomery Strategic Communications. He has also worked on the staffs of numerous political campaigns, including those of former President Bill Clinton and New Jersey Governor Jim Florio.
