Alexander Kopelman

Alexander Kopelman is a writer and an expert in social marketing, with over twenty years of experience in helping people and organizations find their voices and shape compelling narratives about their missions and accomplishments. He is the principal of Souldog Creative, a narrative-based marketing firm that works with corporations, nonprofit organizations, and individuals.

Prior to launching Souldog Creative, Kopelman served for twelve years as the director of marketing and communications at Girls Inc. He guided the organization in successfully reestablishing its brand, after the 1990 name change from Girls Clubs of America. In the process, he pioneered the creative use of media, technology, and social media tools to bring the voices of girls to a broad and diverse public.

He has authored and co-authored nine books, including: “From Rage to Reason: My Life in Two Americas,” in collaboration with Janet Langhart Cohen, television personality and wife of former Secretary of Defense William Cohen (Dafi_na Books); “What Mama Taught Me,” in collaboration with Tony Brown, host of Tony Brown’s Journal on PBS (William Morrow & Co.); “The Miracles of Mentoring,” in collaboration with Thomas W. Dortch, Jr., national president of The 100 Black Men of America, Inc. (Doubleday); and “Empower the People,” in collaboration with Tony Brown (William Morrow & Co.)

Kopelman holds an M.B.A. in marketing from New York University and a B.A. in English from Vassar College. He is the founding board chair of the Children’s Arts Guild and serves on the board of the Sara Curry Preschool.
