Tony Ponturo

In partnership with producing partner Fran Kirmser and the NFL, Tony Ponturo was proud to bring the play Lombardi to Broadway. Its featured actress, Judith Light, won a Tony Nomination and the work also won nomination for Best Play by Broadway.com Audience Choice Awards. Continuing his partnership with Fran Kirmser, they have formed Kirmser Ponturo Group, LLC. The company conceives and develops new artistic work and provides marketing and consulting efforts in arts, sports, and entertainment.

Ponturo has been a leader in sports and entertainment for more than 30 years after first working in advertising. While working at Anheuser-Busch, Ponturo pioneered their efforts in the Academy Awards, the Grammy's, and the Tony Awards. He also brought sponsorship to the Broadway League.

Kirmser Ponturo Group has announced a new theatrical production titled Magic Bird. This is scheduled for Spring 2012 and tells the story of the amazing friendship and competition between Earvin "Magic" Johnson and Larry Bird. Ponturo is a Producer of the 2010 Tony Award Winning Musical Memphis, still running on Broadway, and is an Associate Producer on Hair, which won the 2009 Tony Award for Best Musical Revival. He serves on both the Board and Executive Committee of the American Ballet Theater and on the Board of the New York City Center. Ponturo is a Trustee Emeritus of the American Film Institute.
