A morning Jeep tour of the breathtaking desert of Wadi Rum, where Lawrence of Arabia once lived, concludes on camelback. The local Bedouin tribe provide camels, guides, cotton scarves to fend off the rising desert sun, and shade and sweet tea before and after the ride. Often it is the children of the tribe who care for the camels, and they always enjoy meeting our students and teaching them to sit astride their charges. By the time we arrive at Wadi Rum Village, everyone has gotten the hang of it!
