José Pascal da Rocha

José Pascal da Rocha currently serves as Coordinator of the Mediation and Intervention Unit at the African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD) based in South Africa. In this role, he leads and implements the various activities pertaining to training activities in the field of mediation and conflict resolution on the African Continent. He has worked as a neutral transnational mediator, negotiator and lawyer in crisis intervention, human rights, corporate affairs and conflict management for international organizations such as the United Nations (New York, Geneva, Nairobi), the EU (Directorate for Environmental Affairs crisis response section), NATO (senior officer and transnational political advisor), the OSCE (Eastern European mediation schemes) and national organizations (such as Enfants du Monde - Droit de l’Homme, and Amnesty International) as well as for a diverse client base of corporate and Fortune 500 companies. He has extensive experience in volatile environments and violent crises and he has expanded his knowledge into the corporate environments in terms of strategy and communication expertise. He teaches conflict resolution and negotiation at several institutions around the globe and also teaches gender, diversity and inclusion at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, U.K. and on communication and cultural studies at the Martin Luther University in Halle, Germany.
