Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Johanna Wolfe is a photographer who makes analog C-prints. Her awareness of forensic and scientific investigation was encouraged at a young age by parents working in medicine and criminal law enforcement. She received a B.A. in art history from Columbia University in 2002 and subsequently worked in various media-based fields, including publishing and film festivals. After transitioning into television production, she produced several observational documentary series for networks including TLC, Discovery Health, and A&E. Upon receiving an M.F.A. in visual arts from Columbia University in 2010, she began teaching photography at the undergraduate level. Her photographs have been exhibited in New York and throughout the United States, and she recently opened a communal artist-run darkroom in Long Island City..
