Supervision and Safety

Instructors and resident advisers accompany the students throughout the program.

Resident advisers have training and experience working with the New York Summer Program for High School Students and are housed with the students. In Jordan, the instructors also live on campus. Resident advisers provide supervision on evenings and weekends and arrange for group activities during the day when class is not in session. Students are accompanied by the resident advisers and instructors for all travel within Jordan.

Student safety is of the highest priority for Columbia University and King's Academy. Columbia dormitories are staffed 24 hours a day with security personnel, and no individual without a Columbia University identification card and/or clearance for dormitory access is allowed to enter a dormitory. King's Academy's closed campus is patrolled 24 hours a day by security personnel. At both Columbia and King's Academy, students are expected to sign out when leaving campus on their own after 7 p.m. and to abide by curfew and rules of acceptable conduct.
