Doug White

Doug has deep experience in the fundraising field, as well as a long list of publications and significant lecturing experience to his credit. Doug has over thirty years of leadership experience at nonprofits, as well as his academic experience teaching courses in philanthropy and fundraising to graduate and non-credit students.

White was Academic Director for the Heyman Center for Philanthropy and Fundraising, New York University School of Continuing Professional Studies. He has led organizations in developing ethics and strategic planning policies, donor relations, planned and major giving, and capital campaigns. Doug has been responsible for efforts that have raised more than $800 million dollars. His many honors include receiving the 2002 “Distinguished Service Award” from the National Capital Planned Giving Council (Washington, DC).

Doug White is the author of “The Nonprofit Challenge: Integrating Ethics into the Purpose and promise of the Nation’s Nonprofits,” (Palgrave Macmillan) 2010, “Charity on Trial: What You Need to Know Before You Contribute” (Barricade Books), 2007 and “The Art of Planned Giving” (John Wiley & Sons) 1995.

He teaches the Fundraising Management program seminar on boards. The seminar reviews nonprofit boards in general, as well as those of universities, hospitals, humane organizations and homeless shelters. Doug is a graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy and Dartmouth College.
