Craig Smith is head of internal communication for UBS's investment bank globally and UBS's businesses in the Americas and specializes in strategic internal communication.
Smith joined UBS in April 2008 after more than12 years as an internal communicator with the management consulting and outsourcing company Accenture in both London and Chicago. As head of communications for Accenture’s global human resources function, he led the development of an employee engagement strategy aligning the human resources and marketing function’s efforts.
He started his career in politics as a legislative assistant in Congress and the British House of Commons and as a political risk analyst with oil company, BP. He worked in a variety of internal communication roles at BP, Whitbread, and National Power, before joining Accenture.
Smith holds a bachelor of arts degree in politics and parliamentary studies from the University of Leeds in the U.K. and studied at American University in Washington D.C. He has won awards in the U.K. and U.S., including a bronze anvil from the PRSA for his work on in-house publications.
