Program Travel Schedule

Arrival in New York

Check-in at the residence halls in New York takes place on Sunday, June 24, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Rooms are not available before this time.
 

Departure and Travel to Jordan

Students and staff leave for Jordan as a group on Thursday, June 28. Flight details will be available in the spring. Students, instructors, and residence advisers will travel together by bus from the Columbia University campus to Kennedy Airport.

Airlines have very strict rules when it comes to enforcing weight restrictions on luggage. Students should plan on bringing one large suitcase, one carry-on, and one "personal item" (i.e. a purse or laptop bag) to Jordan. If students bring their laptops, they should be sure to carry these on the plane with them and not check them with their luggage.

You must carry a valid passport with you on your trip and obtain a visa for entry to Jordan before arriving in New York City for the start of the program. You will not be permitted to depart for Jordan with the group if you fail to obtain a visa.
 

King's Academy and Jordan

The group will arrive in Amman on Friday, June 29. A private bus will be waiting to transport the group to King’s Academy. After arrival, students will settle into their dorms and then attend a short orientation session. Students will then be dismissed until 10:00 AM the following morning, when they will reconvene for a tour of the King’s Academy facilities.

Site Director Anna Swank and experienced resident advisers who have worked for our New York program will live in the dormitories with the students. They will be there to supervise and assist and to organize extracurricular activities.
 

Return to New York

A private bus will transport the group to the airport for the return trip to New York on Sunday, July 15.  Return flight information will be available in the spring. A private bus will be waiting to take the students back to the residence halls at Columbia University.
 

Checkout

Checkout from the residence halls at Columbia University takes place on Saturday, July 21, from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM. No student will be permitted to stay in the dormitory after 11:00 AM.
