John Taylor
John Taylor specializes in the investigation of project network dynamics in the global architecture, engineering, and construction industry. His current research focuses on the increasing trend of global outsourcing of complex engineering services, developing collaboration tools, enabling practices to support collaborative work in global virtual teams, and the impact of integrated technologies on global project networks. Through a combination of in-depth field research, lab experimentation, and computational simulation modeling, Taylor and his research team develop practical organizational change strategies and technologies while extending theories of project networks. Taylor is director of the Global Project Network Dynamics Lab located in the Robert A. W. Carleton Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics Laboratory. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Construction Research Council, the Construction Industry Institute Globalization Community of Practice, the American Society for Engineering Education, the Academy of Management (Technology and Innovation Management Division), and the Editorial Board of the Journal of Construction Engineering and Management. He holds both a B.S. and an M.S. in civil engineering from Tulane University, an M.S. in logistical systems management from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, and a Ph.D. in civil engineering from Stanford University.
