Ozioma Egwuonwu
Considered a leader in the emerging discipline of cultural strategy, Ozioma Egwuonwu has spent a great deal of her personal time and professional career traveling around the world hunting for the latest cultural shift or ground-breaking insight to move clients' businesses forward. In a variety of roles, Egwuonwu has solved complex production, strategic and creative problems for a diverse array of clients across a number of product and service categories.
Specializing in cultural insights and innovation, Egwuonwu helped pioneer the emerging discipline of cultural strategy at GlobalHue, where she lead a team of strategists and trends analysts in the development of culturally relevant brand strategies for Walmart, Verizon, the U.S. Navy and MGM Grand Detroit. During her tenure at Saatchi & Saatchi, Egwuonwu served as one of the foundational strategists on the rejuvenation of J.C. Penney’s brand image, produced multimillion dollar campaigns for Crest, Head & Shoulders and Olay and ran a portfolio of brands for Yoplait Kids. She was also a key member of Youth Connection, Saatchi’s youth insights division. While a vice president, senior strategist at McCann Erickson, Egwuonwu led the authorship of an award winning case study that garnered the New York office a Silver Jay Chiat Planning Award.
Egwuonwu has written for numerous publications, been featured on NBC, spoken at South By Southwest Interactive festival and served as an adjunct professor at Marymount College of Fordham University in their theatre and media department.
Egwuonwu is currently the Head of CULTURA, a practice across RAPP’s global network that help clients "find their role" in culture by uncovering insights, fueling innovation and crafting brand strategies and experiences firmly rooted in culture.
She holds two master's degrees; one in English studies from the University at Albany and another in television/radio/new media from Brooklyn College.
