American Language Program

David Quinn, Director and Senior Lecturer, has been a member of  Columbia University’s American Language Program since 1981. He holds an Ed.D. in international education from Teachers College Columbia University, an M.A. in foreign language education from the University of Texas at Austin, and an A.B. in Spanish and linguistics from Brown University.  He served in several posts as Academic Coordinator at the ALP from 1986 to 1999.  He has served as ALP Director since 1999. His current work centers on the internationalization of the curriculum in the School of Continuing Education and the integration of the American Language Program into the academic preparation of international students across the campus.  His special teaching interest is in the ALP’s International Teaching Fellows training program.
